    The Battle of Lexington and Concord was a major battle that started the Revolutionary War. On April 18, 1775, British troops marched from Boston to Concord to confiscate the weapons that the Colonists had been stealing and stashing. Paul Revere warned he colonial militiamen. The British assumed that the colonists were taking fire at them, so they fired back, killing at least 8 colonists.

    On Christmas Day in 1776, commander George Washington planned a daring surprise attack on a large Hessian group in Trenton. At dusk, he took with him approximately 2,400 men and 18 cannons across the Delaware River. When the attacked in the morning the found a sleeping, possibly intoxicated, Large Hessian group. Washington's army killed about 40 men and captured almost 1,000, while at least 400 escaped. The Americans suffered from only four deaths because of harsh weather and wounds.
