Daniel Morgan led 500 sharpshooters to the field where they saw the British advancing. They were able to take out a number of officers before the British began to attack. -

Battle of King's Mountain
Date: October 7, 1780.
What Happened: It was a battle between the Loyalists and the Patriots. It was victory for the Patriots militia in South Carolina, where the battle was fought. The battle was part of the Southern campaign of The Revolutionary War.
Leaders: The leader on the Patriots’ side was Colonel William Campbell. Leader on the Loyalists’ side was Major Patrick Ferguson.
Important Facts: This battle successfully ended British invasion of North and South Carolina. -
Battle of Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown was the last great battle of the American Revolutionary War. It is where the British Army surrendered and the British government began to consider a peace treaty.
At the same time that the British Army under General Charles Cornwallis was retreating to Yorktown,General George Washington was marching his army down from the north. The French Navy, having defeated the British Navy, started to move to the coast near Yorktown as well.
