    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    Known as the "shot heard 'round the world", taking place in Lexington,Massachusetts, and Concord,Massachusetts, this was the opening battle of the American Revolution. Started when British Commander in Boston sent troops to sieze stores of gunpowder and to find Samuel Adams and John Hancock, resulting in the rise of minutemen, the retreat of British troops and a colonial victory.

  • Siege of Ft.Ticonderoga

    Small American force under Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold surprised British and captured Ft.Ticonderoga, in New York, obtaining cannons that would later drive the British out of Boston, therefore creating another colonial victory.

    Maj. Gen, William Howe, wanted to remove American army from Manhattan, New York, when he asked them to surrender their fort, they refused, starting the battle, in which the Americans lost.

    After retreating from New York, George Washington decided to move his militia to Trenton, New Jersey, crossing the Delaware River, in the harsh cold, launching an attack that Colonel Rahl thought was false. By not preparing even when he knew of the attack, Colonel Rahl decided in the end to surrender, resulting in an American victory.

    Battle between Geroge Washington's militia and General Cornwallis' british troops at Princeton, New Jersey. Americans wanted to recover New Jersey and decided to sneak up behind the British, leaving campfires on to make them think that they were in a place where they were not. This tactic helped the Americans win and gain most of New Jersey back.

    This battle at Saratoga, New York, was a major turning point. This battle which resulted in an American victory, proved to the French that the colonists could win, therefore re-assuring them that if they won, they would not be let down. Thanks to this, the French entered the war.

After this battle, the British could not advance further south, ultimately setting them up for defeat later on. This was one of the most important because most of those fighting were also militia, not troops, giving a colonial victory.

    Major British defeat, resulting in many of them and their supplies being captured. This led to them giving up control over South Carolina, and to take one step further into total defeat.

    Last battle of the revolutionary war, finishing off with a colonial victory, and the surrender of the British's General Cornwallis. Later in 1882, parliament officially declared the war to be over and negociated the peace settlement for America.
