    The Battles of Lexington and Concord
    The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War. They were fought on April 19, 1775, in Middlesex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, within the towns of Lexington, Concord, Lincoln, Menotomy (present-day Arlington), and Cambridge, near Boston. The battles marked the start of the Revolutionary War. This was also the first time the British soldiers retreated from the Americans and it would not be the last.

    The Battle of Bunker Hill
    On June 17, 1775 the Battle of Bunker Hill took place. It is one of the most important morale builders in the U.S. War for Independence. Fought during the Siege of Boston, This battle helped a lot for the cause of the revolution and it also let both sides realize that it wasnt going to be a quick and easy revolution. Even though the Americans techinally lost they impacted a lot of damgae on England before doing so.

    On this date the Continental Army launched an attack on a Bristish ship using the first ever militarized submarine. However the attack was not succesful and they had to abort the mission.

    This is not so much a turning point in the war but the flag gave the Army a symbol and in a sense gave them something to fight for helping the moral of the Contintental Army.

    This was one of the bloodiest battles of all in the war about fifty percent of the american forces died and about fifteen percent of the british forces died. The results of this battle were a tactical victory for England but a long term strategic win for the Continental Army.

     Baron von Steuben arrives at Valley Forge
    Valley forge was where the Continental Army troups spent the winter and Baron von Steuben arrived to train the rebels to help them become better troups. Valley Forge was an awful experiennce for the rebel troups, suffering from poor morale resulting from cold, hunger, disease, low supplies and desertions over the long, harsh winter. This was a true turning point in the war becasue the troups not only came out of Valley Forge better trained they matured into a true army focused on independace.
