    The british went to Concord after Lexington to seize illegal weapons. They found an empty arsenal and started to head back to Boston. The minutemen fired at the troops which killed lots of british soldiers.
  • Lexington

    The redcoats got to Lexington, Massachusetts and told everyone in the town to put their weapons down and to leave. Someone ended up shooting which caused a shooting to break out. The battle only lasted 15 minutes and was the first Revolutionary War battle.
  • Bunker Hill

    Thomas Gage sent 2,400 british troops to the hill because he wanted to strike at militiamen. It is said to be the deadliest battle.
  • New York

    The british tried to seize New york city because they wanted to stop rebellion. The british came with about 32,000 soldiers. The colonial troops were untrained and poorly equipped. The british pushed the colonial troops into Philadelphia.
  • Trenton

    Washington led 2,400 troops to a surprise attack. They defeated a Garrison of Hessians.
  • Saratoga and Philadelphia

    Saratoga and Philadelphia
    Saratoga was one of the most important events of the war. Burgoyne surrendered because he forgot that the british troops were in Philadelphia and weren't going to be able to meet him. The surrender of the british got the French to sign an alliance with the Americans.
  • Valley Forge

    The colonial troops and washington stayed at a winter camp. Without much supplies they tried to stay alive but more than 2,000 soldiers ended up dying

    Lafayette helped to train the Continental Army with others. Also, he led a command in virginia and lobbied France for French reinforcements.
  • Yorktown

    The British general led his army of 7,500 to camp at Yorktown while still trying to defeat Cornwallis. Cornwallis wanted to protect Yorktown and take Virginia. The American and French troops surrounded the British on Yorktown. Cornwallis decided to surrender since the American and French kept bombarding them.
