  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The British wanted to find ways tot tax the Colonists so they put the Stamp Act on them. This act made the colonists pay for stamp,or seal when they bought paper items. It had to be paid on legal documents, licenses, newspaper,phamphlets, and playing cards. Some who didn't listen went to jail or fined.
  • Townshed Act

    Townshed Act
    These were duties passed on glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea. The tax collectors were allowed to search for smuggled goods. This took power away from colonial goverments. The colonists boycotted again.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Colonists and British Soldiers got into a fight. They threw snowballs and shouted insults. The soldiers fired they killed three men instantly. The Boston Massacre was over reacted, but did happen.
  • Tea Act

    The British East India Company was allowed to sell tea directly to the colonists. Many smugglers and merchents worried they would put them out of business.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Colonists disguised as Indians went onto three ships that were filled with tea. They dumped 340 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. The colonists yelled down the streets 'Boston harbour is a teapot tonight!"

    These acts were put on the colonists after the Boston Tea Party. They were called the Coercive Acts, the colonists called them the Intolerable Acts. They had six laws for this act. The first one is the Boston Harbor was closed until Boston had paid for the tea.

    The leaders got together because they were upset about the relationship between Great Britain and the colonists. They gathered in Philadelphia and took weeks of debate. Some thought that they would have to fight and others thought that they didn't. But, in the end they ended up having to fight.

    The war begins with the fighting at Lexington and Concord. The fought only lasted for minutes. eight of the minutemen lay dead and 10 were wounded. Only one soldier was wounded. The Bristish then went to Concord. The Patriots once again lost there.

    The thirteen colonies decide the Declaration of Independence and to not be with Great Britian any longer.

    France joined the war to go against Great Britian. There was two treaties signed by them. One was for trade between France and the Colonists and the other was for the war against Great Britian. That made them work together.

    Spain goes to war with Great Britain. The governor of Sanish Bouisiana helped alot with the Patriots. He gathered many people to go east from Louisiana. He went all the way to Florida.
  • British Surrender

    British Surrender
    For weeks the British were getting weaker and weaker. In October, George Washington plained an attack on the British. Cornwallis sent a drummer and a soldier with a while flag to surrender. The Patriots took 8,000 British prisoners. Yorktown Battle was the last major battle in the Revolutionary War.
