April 18th, 1775: The colonist leaders are alerted by Dr. Joseph Warren when he was walking in the streets British troops were assembling for an attack on Lexington and concord.

May 10th, 1775: the SCC (Second Continental Congress) assembled in Philadelphia for the first time and chose a leader to lead the Continental Army, which george Washington was randomly selected.

June 16th, 1775: The Colonist are engaged in a bloody battle at bunker hill. The british lost about 4000 soldiers the colonists deaths were at 500.

April 6th, 1776: John Adams predicts that they will have a long and bloody war to go through.. He is later very very right.

July 4th , 1776: U.S declares its independence from Great Britain. John Hancock makes his signature very big so king George II can see it(:

August 27th, 1776: General Howe’s army drove the continental army across long island and eventually captured it.

December 1776: The colonist suffered a long winter; it was their rock bottom during the war. But they also were prized with three officers, one from Prussia, one from Spain and, and one from at the time Louisiana.

In September 1777: The British capture Philadelphia and force the SCC to flee.

October 17, 1777 The battle of Saratoga occurred with general Horatio Gates captured General Burgoyne’s army and took them prisoner.

In the spring of 1778 African Americans are allowed to join the war. Most slaves had to run away and fight for their freedom.
