    Proclamation of 1763

    British Government calls for a halt of westward expansion past the Appalachian Mountains. The British government had already given land grants past there but did not care. The colonists ignored this and still colonized further west. This infuriated King George and he posted guards at the border.
  • Sugar Act

    The sugar act cut the duty on foreign molasses from 6 to 3 pence per gal., retained a high duty on foreign refined sugar, and prohibited importing foreign rum. The colonists did not like this and protested with the famous phrase no taxation without representation. The British Parliament then repealed the act and made the declaratory act.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act made it so that everything(almost) made out of paper had to have a stamp on it, this included important documents to things like playing cards. The colonists simply refused to pay the tax. The British resulted in the prosecution of anyone that didn't pay the tax.

    Declaratory act

    Accompanied the repeal of the stamp act and declared that the British parliaments taxing authority were the same in America as it was in Great Britian. The colonists were again outraged because that meant more acts were coming. The British did nothing in response to the angry colonists.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act

    Allowed the right to ship tea directly to the colonies without first landing it in England and making it would make the company's tea cheaper than other tea which was being smuggled into the colonies. The colonists belived that this was a tactic to gain colonists support and they protested with things like the boston tea party. The British reacted by imposing even stricter laws on the colonists
