    Cuba- January 1959, Fulgencio Batista (dictator) is overthrown. Revolution was led by Fidel Castro.
  • Coup in the Congo

    Congo- Moise Tshombe (mining interests, anti-communist who faught against Patrice Lumumba, the Prime Minister with communist connections) was overthrown in a bloodless coup by Mobutu (1965)
  • Indonesian Massacre

    Indonesia- 1965 Coup that was suppressed by general Suharto.
  • Civil War in Angola

    Angola- Civil war begins Nov. 11, 1975
  • Nicaraguan Revolution

    Nicaragua- 1979, Communist Sandinista rebels overthrow the Somoza dictatorship.
  • Ayatollah Revolution in Iran

    Iran- 1953 US has the Prime Minister of Iran, Muhammad Mossaddeq, arrested and restored power to the Shah. By 1979 the Ayatollahs push the Shah out of power.
