    President Lincoln was assassinated in the theater, Ford's Theater. John Wilkes Booth assassinated Abraham due to the belief that the Confederacy could be restored. When Abraham Lincoln died Andrew Johnson took over as president. He was on the democratic party and was in charge of the reconstruction of America after the civil war.
