In 1 Jan 1690, Leibniz invented a machine that could do basic math. The instructions were programmed into the machine. The only downside to the machine is that you couldn’t change the instructions without changing the entire machine.

Howard Aiken, with the help of engineers at IBM, made a large automatic digital computer. They named the computer the Harvard Mark I.They programmed it by using pre-punched paper tape.
