Process for Identification

  • School Wide Positive Behavioral Supports Tier I

    School will identify 3 or 4 overall Social Skills to work on.This is viewed as a Tier I.
  • School Wide Positive Behavioral Supports Tier II

    During Tier II, more monitoring will take place for students at a group level. This is a more concentrated group of students-those who were still struggling after Tier I supports.
  • School Wide Positive Behavioal Supports Tier III

    Tier III offeres individual assitance. Many interventions are put in place. The teachers try to maximize the students' strengths and minimize the weaknesses. Universal screening, progress monitoring, and lots of documentation occurs during this tier also. The teachers are making sure that they are implementing all interventions with fidelity.
  • Support and Durability along the way

    The state, school district, region, school, clsasroom, kids, families, and community all continue to work together to ensure that supports and durability are present while an action plan to build a continuum to implement evidence based behavioral supports.
  • Parental Permission

    If the student has received all of the tiered supports, but is still struggling, the team may look into an evaluation process. This can only happen if parents or guardians give permission for the evaluation.
  • Evaluation

    After parent permission to test has been granted, the LEA will initiate a referral or a reevaluation.
  • IEP create and Implemented

    If the student is determined eligible, the committee will develop an IEP for the student.
  • IEP Evaluation Meeting

    After evaluations have been completed, the IEP team will meet to determine eligibility. The team must consider all information and make decisions base on the individual student rather than make judgements based on terminology and medical diagnosis.
