  • James K. Polk Is Born

    James K. Polk, future President, is born in Pineville, North Carolina.

  • John Adams Elected

    John Adams, former Vice President of the United States, under George Washington's Presidency, is elected President in the 1796 Election. He will serve as President until 1801. His son, John Quincy Adams, will later become the 6th President.
    His Vice President, Thomas Jefferson, would later become the 3rd President.

  • George Washington Dies

    Former President George Washington dies at Mount Vernon, Virginia, at the age of 67.

  • Millard Fillmore Is Born

    George Clinton would later die, leaving the office vacant, until it was filled by Elbridge Gerry, who eventually died, leaving the office vacant yet again.

Calhoun, is Vice President, until his resignation on December 28, 1832, leaving the office vacant until Martin Van Buren becomes Vice President after the 1832 Election, where Jackson is re-elected.
