    The commisons were not delievered before the expiration of Adam's term as president. Thomas Jefferson refused to honor the commisions, claiming that they were invalid, because they werent deliverd by the end of Adam's term.

    Thomas Jefferson doubled the size of the union, by buying land from France, to their war. Jefferson paid 60$ million dollars for 828,000 square miles west of the missippi river.

    In the last days of President Thomas Jefferson's presidency, the United States Congress replaced the Embargo Act of 1807 with the almost unenforceable Non Intercourse Act of March 1, 1809. This Act lifted embargoes on American shipping except for those bound British or France ports.
