    President Lincoln is elected president of the United States. He won 180 of 303 electoral votes. He revcieved the votes of the Northern free states but not the votes of the Southern free states.

    The war between the North and South started when the southern states stated their secession. The north had the advantage of resources while the South had the advantage of war strategy. They faught to keep the South from seceding sand to end slavery.

    Apraham Lincoln's son dies while he is in office. He died of a fever at age 11.

    This document was signed stating it would free all slaves. It was put into action on January 1, 1863.

    A speech was given by Lincoln at a soldiers grave sight. The speech talked of a nation founded on freedom. The speech was 260 words long.

    John Wilkes Booth shot President lincoln at Ford's theatre in Washington D.C. He tried to escape by jumpping out of the play box and running to a nearby farm. Police discovered him 13 days after the asault. President Lincoln was attening the play in celebration of the end of the war.

    After the death of 625,000- 850,000 men, the war was pronounced over.The confederates lost the war and slavery was abolished. 1 in 13 veterans from the war was left an amputee. So much was lost yet so much was won. This date is based on the declaration of the end of the war.
