  • Proclamation Line

    Proclamation Line
    A line that prevented Americans from settling past the point of the Appalachian Mountains. Which prevented the hunting and selling of beaver pelts that lived past this line. Created by King George III after the French and Indian War. This gave Americans a taste for what was to come in the next couple of decades. This is what really started the American Revolution.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    It was a modefided version of the expiring Molasses Act. Which taxed six pence a gallon. Created around when the Writs of Assistance came into play. Was repealed in 1766. All beacuse shops boycotted carrying british items.
  • Declaratory Act

    Declaratory Act
    This act replaced the repealed Stamp Act. It was an act that fortified the authority of Parliament. It stated Parliament had the same authority to make laws in America as it did in Britain. This act shows just how powerful a pressence Britain tries to be in America while not being present. Colonists felt this was unjustified and chose not to listen to Parliament.

    1st Continental Congress
    This was the first meeting between 12 reprsentatives of the states. This is important beacuse it shows the colonies uniting as one. During this meeting, the colonists decided on what their rights were. Afterwards, they sent a letter to the king explaining their rights to him.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    The battle of Lexington and Concord was originally a British attempt at ambushing Concord and destroying militia supplies. They however failed, before arrivng at Concord the British troops met militia resistance. The militia had to reluctantly fall back, and the British troops continued to Concord; however upon arriving they found no supplies at all. This event is important because it shows how the colonists began to perfect their long distance communication skills.

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    All though it was a loss for the colonists, this battle helped boost the moral that would be needed to win the war. In fact, the colonists came very close to winning that fight, which helped prove they were capable in battle. Before the battle once again the colonists communication system helped the colonists in the fight by pre-warning them about the approaching troops.
  • Declaration of Idependence

    Declaration of Idependence
    The Declaration of Independence was created to show America as a seperate being from Britain. It was a message that the soon to be United States would fight and would defend the rights the colonists thought they deserved. It was the proof of rebellion that America needed to bring it together as a whole. It also started the war of revolution and was a great turning point in our nation's history. This doucument also brought about the ending of slavery with President Abraham Lincoln's efforts.
