    French war in Korea

    War between the French and the Vientnamese was intially started because the Nationalists of Vietnam wanted freedom, but the French wanted to regain their territory. The war came to an end when the French surrendered. As a result of this war, Vietnam was divided.
  • Indepence of India

    Indepence of India
    India became independent on August 15, 1947. After this, violence broke out between the Muslims and Hindus killing around a half of a million people.
  • Creation of Israel

    Creation of Israel
    On November 29, 1947, the United Nation agreed on a verdict which was to allow Palestine to be regrouped for the Arabs and the Jews. The Jews gained around 55% of the land which later changed to 78% due to war.

    Formation of NATO
    As the Soviets continued to expand, threats began to form throughout Western Europe. As a result, 12 nations established the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization). The 12 nations, including Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and the United States argreed that an attack on any nation is an attack on all.

    War in Korea

    Korea was divied into two seprate parts: a communist North and a noncommunist South. South Korea asked United nations it intervene when Noth Koreans crossed the 33rd parallel, which happens shortly after. United Nations send internatioal force to Korea. overall nothing changed in Korea.

    U.S. War in Vietnam

    The United States got involved with Vietnam because 2 US destroyers were attaked causing US to send more troops in fear of communist takeover. Later US president, Nixon, withdrew troops under peer pressure from protesters.
  • Bay of Pigs Invasion

    Bay of Pigs Invasion
    On the day of the Invasion, around 1200 Cuban exiles waded the shores of Cuba hoping to overturn the Cuban government particularly Cuban leader, Fidel Castro. The plan was an immediate failure when the cuban military showed up with counterattacks. Some 100 were killed and 1100 were captured.

    Arab-Israeli war 1967

    In 1967, Egypt planned to attack Israeli which ultimately failed. As Egypt was planning to attack, Israeli fought before Egypt could even set foot in Israeli. This ended in an increase in Israeli nationalism.

    Ayatollah Ruholla Khomeini returns from exile and establishes an Islamic state.
  • Assassination of Egypt President Sadat

    Assassination of Egypt President Sadat
    Anwar Sadat, a Muslim, reigned as the president of Egypt. On October 5, 1981, Muslim extremists assassinated him in Cario, Egypt.
