  • Brown V Board Of Education

    Brown V Board Of Education
    In this case the supreme Court was able to rule that segregation of African-Americans when it comes to public schooling is not constitutional. This was a case that was able to overturn the Plessy v. Ferguson case. This was able to provide the Civil Rights movement to which was able to provide the same rights for everyone. This was something that was going to be very helpful to students with disabilities.
  • PARC v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

    PARC v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    This was awarded that we would not be able to restrict children from the ages of 6-21. Pennsylvania was also responsible for making sure that they would provide free education to all children reguardless of what their disability may be. They also had to make sure that education and any trainings that were given to the children with disabilities they had to make sure that they were able to match that of the education and training given that were given to general students.
  • Mills V. Board of Education

    Mills V. Board of Education
    Mills was able to expand the P.A.R.C. to go beyond the children with disabilities that cause developmental delays. School aged children were denied to be placed in any public educational programs.
  • Section 504 of the Rehabilition Act 1973

    Section 504 of the Rehabilition Act 1973
    This was the first civil rights statue for people that might have disabilities. This would be the first nationwide law that has stated that students with disabilities should be provided with free education as well as the correct education that they might need that would give a least restrictive environment.
  • Education for all Handicapped Children

    Education for all Handicapped Children
    This was an act that was able to allow free and appropriate public education. This would be done in the less restricted area for any children with disabilities. This was a rule that parents had a place that they could go dispute any decisions that might be about their child.
  • Plessy v. Ferguson

    Plessy v. Ferguson
    This is when the Supreme Court awarded that it would be legal to individualize individuals and make them have separate facilities just long as they all would be equal.
  • Honig v. Doe

    Honig v. Doe
    This was a landmark case where a child was expelled because of the actions of the child's disability. This is where they are not able to exclude or expel and disabled child from the classroom setting.
  • IDEA Ammendments of 1997

    IDEA Ammendments of 1997
    This was a bill that Bill Clinton was able to sign for the amendments to the IDEA. This would be something that would allow more students that had disabilities to make sure that they are being intergrated into regular education classrooms. This was something that they would consider a big success for special education.
  • No Child Left Behind Act

    No Child Left Behind Act
    This was when the No Child Left Behind Act was reauthorized. This was a reauthorization that would require special education teachers to make sure that they are highly educated and qualified.
  • President Obama allows waivers for NCLB

    President Obama allows waivers for NCLB
    This would be when President Obama would allow states to be able to request waivers that would be good for flexibility when it comes to meeting the requirements in the NCLB act. When they use this waiver the schools are able to show how well it helps with student improvement through multiple means of a benefit for students with disabilities.
