The Dark Ages was a time between the collapse of the Mycenaean civilization and the Greek Archaic era. The collapse of the Mycenaean Civilization was because of the major centers there coming out of use because of destruction and abandonment. Its writing system was lost, so a lot of the evidence found was because of archaeology. This age is also called the Early Iron Age because of the advancement of tools made of iron, possibly from Cyprus and the Near East.

Here, Herostratus wants to make his mark on history by burning down the Ephesian Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Roman historian Plutarch proposes that Artemis was so busy attending Alexander the Great’s birth that she failed to protect her own temple.

At this time, Aristarchus of Samos is born, a Greek astronomer. He believed that the Sun and not the Earth was the center of the universe and everything revolved around it. He also believed that the stars were also suns that did not move and that the universe is much bigger than earlier astronomers tended to believe.

This year, the Ming Dynasty of China was born. In the late years of the Yuan Dynasty, there was a peasant uprising. In 1352, one of the peasants named Zhu Yuanzhang joined the army. He became the general and wiped out all the other smaller militaries with his power. In 1368, Zhu Yuanzhang proclaimed himself emperor in Yingtian and created the beginning of the Ming Dynasty.
