The Boston Tea Party (1773) was a major part of why these were set in place. The Intolerable Acts consist of the Boston Port Act, Mass. Government Act, Administration of Justice Act, and Quebec Act.

    The Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was a document made by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, which announced that the thirteen American colonies were themselves as independent states, and no longer a part of Britian. This is the day we gained Independence and claimed this country as ours forever, no longer a part of Britain.
