    Henry Hudson Explores Pennsylvania
    Henry Hudson was hired by Holland to come and explore a spot of land in America. This land became Pennsylvania. The Hudson River is named after Henry Hudson.

    The Charter Was Signed
    King Charles signed the Charter of Pennsylvania and it was officially proclaimed on April second. He named it after William Penn's father, William Penn Senior.

    The First Assembly and Great Law Created
    On this day, the first Assembly was created, as well as the Great Law was created as well. This law became the basis of Pennsylvania Law.

    Pennsylvania Booms!
    Pennyslvania's agriculture buisness took off during the beginning of the 1750's. Pennsylvania is known for it's great farm land because they have fertile soil and a good planting season with lots of rain. Pennsylvania was also known to be democratic. There were certian conditions attatched to the colony, they could collect taxes, veto any law, but the colony must be named Pennyslvania. William Penn Jr. wanted to name it Sylvania or New Wales, the King wanted it named after William Penn Sr.

    There were many forts built during this, one of which is in Pittsburgh named Fort Duquesne. These forts threatened the middle colonies. During the war, General Edward Braddock's British colonial army was slaughtered on the Monongahela in 1755.
