    Adolf Hitler Becomes President
    During the 1920s Germany had to pay a huge fine for damage caused in World War I. Many men lost their jobs and couldn't support their families. Once Hitler got out of jail after taking violent measures to seize control of the government, he promised to get people out of poverty, and restore pride in their country and themselves. He also knew whom to blame, the jews. On this day, January 30, 1933 Hitler finally seized control of the government. (Pg. 4) Amelia D.

    On October 30, 1938 German troops invaded the Sudetenland. The Czech people did not welcome them like them Austrians. Although the Czechoslovakia army was strong it was nothing compared to the Germans. Hitler now controlled another three and one-half million people.     Operation BARBAROSSA hda been going well, until september 12. On this day, the first snow began to fall, and it marked one of the worst blizzards Russia had seen. Even because of this setback, Adolf Hitler told his troops to keep on pushing trough, even though they weren't used to the frigid tempuratures. To add, a train holding 988 Jews leaves Austria for Theresienstadt, a concentration camp in Czechoslovakia. Also, from that same camp, another 1,000 Jews are shipped east, to the Soviet Union, but before they reach their destination, they are taken off the train, placed on trucks to a forest, shot by the SS, and dumped in a common grave.     The german army had been fighting in -22 degree weather in Russia, and were beginning to question the Fuhrer's decisions. The second winter they encountered was just as bad as the first, and the Luftwaffe couldn't airlift supplies to their location.     Helen and other women were taken by cattle car to Kratzau, a work camp, just before the killings at Auschwitz stopped. They would work in a factory with 900 other women. Each woman was given a heavy blue-green metal pin. On this day, March 3 1945, all boys 15 and older were ordered to the front lines, this was the fiercest of fighting and that overwhelmed most of them, they would run and flee. Anyone caught deserting during battle was immediately shot and hanged no matter their age.     Two nazis were yet to be found even with the C.I.A looking for them. Later, in 1974 the two nazi's bodies, Martin Bormann's and Hitler's private doctor's, were uncovered near a bridge by construction workers. Each one of them had a small glass vile in their mouth which seemed much like a vile of cyanide. At last, Martin Bormann, a man whose warrant for arrest was started three decades ago, was found.
