    Newcomen improved Savery's idea by adding in the roocking arm, which helped imporve the steam engine, but it was still not enough. Newcomen still used condensation to create a partial vacuum, and atmospheric pressure to push the mine water into the partial vacuum, but he added a piston and rocking arm.
