  • Motorola DynaTAC Launches

    The Motorola DynaTAC became the first cell phone to be offered commercially in 1984. It offered 30 minutes of talk time and 8 hours of standby, and a LED display for dialing or calling of one of 30 phone numbers. This model was made from 1984-1994.
  • Dowling v. United States court case

    Dowling v. United States was a United States Supreme Court case that discussed whether copies of copyrighted works could be regarded as stolen which criminalized property that had been "stolen, converted or taken by fraud" and holding that they could not be regarded under that law.

    One man was put in prison and another was to be serving home detention after being convicted of manufacturing and distributing at least 25,000 copies of Microsoft Corp.'s MS-DOS operating system.
