    First Macintosh was released on january 24th, 1984.

  • System 3 released

    In january 1986 they created a newer macintosh that was suppose to have a bigger file manager

  • System 7 Released

    Was released on widest array of platforms, first ever operating system that required a computer to have a hard drive.

  • Mac OS 7.6 Released

    First version to use Mac OS in name, arose out of apples need to copyright the operating system as it was appearing as a third party.

  • Mac OS 8 Released

    Steve Jobs came back to apple and sold over 3 million copies in 6 moths, featured an updated visual style called platinum.

  • Mac OS 9 Released

    It added more support for Airport wireless networking and remote software.

  • Mac OS X Released

    This was a bigger feature to the operating system that gave it more of a modern look.

  • "Jaguar" Released (OS X 10.2)

    First iteration of OS X marketed by codename, much more faster & stable than previous versions of OS X.08

  • "Tiger Released" (OS X 10.4)

    Sold over 2 million copies after being on market for 6 weeks, first operating system to support apple machines running intel x86 processors.

  • "Leopard" Released (OS X 10.5)

    Represented a dramatic visual depart from Tiger, added ,pre features that are kept up to date today.

  • "Lion" Released (OS X 10.7)

    Release began to mark between IOS on mobile devices and Mac computers, first OS available primarily for download in app store for 29$

  • "Mountain Lion" Announce/Released (OS X 10.8)

    All new operating systems that made changed to different names of apps and more support in iCloud.
