    Colombus Lands In America
    On August 3rd, 1492 Christopher Columbus set sail. With three ships, Columbus and his crew landed in the Bahamas on October 12th of the same year.
  • Jamestown

    on may 14th 1607, Jamestown was founded. It was run by a man named John Smith. Being the first colony in the americas life was hard. A majority of the settlers died of starvation or disease and the settlers had to rely on the native americans to survive.

    November 11th, 1620, the Mayflower landed in New England after a 66 day voyage. The Mayflower carried 102 pilgrims and a crew of 30 members.

    Paul Revere was an American colonist Born January 1st 1735. Paul is famous for his midnight ride to alert the colonial militia. As well as his famous painting of the Boston massacre.

    The Constitutional Convention lasted for four months starting May 25th and ending September 17th 1787. It was originally intended to fix the old government system but in the end names like James Madison, George Washington and Alexander Hamilton created a whole new government.

    Thomas Jefferson was elected march 4th 1801 and his term lasted until March 4th 1809. Jefferson beat out John adams in the election. During his term Jefferson set out on reducing the size of the government by reducing the amount of taxes.

    In 1803 the U.S went through with the Louisiana purchase acquiring 827,000 acres of land west of the Mississippi for 15 million. This was the largest amount of land the U.S would purchase.

    Andrew Jackson began his presidency March 4th 1829. Andre jackson is on the 20 dollar bill and is a very controversial president because the trail of tears. Andrew jackson also was responsible for founding the political force which would later be known as the democratic party.

    On April 9th 1865, general Robert E Lee surrendered his army of northern Virginia to the union. This day marked the end of the civil war which was the bloodiest battle in U.S history.

    Shortly after 10 pm, Actor John Wilkes Booth entered the presidents box at ford theater, and proceeded to shoot and kill president Lincoln. Lincoln was the first president to be assassinated, the reason John killed him was because he thought it would "aid the south".

    January 31st the 13th amendment was passed by congress. This would mark the end of slavery. it wasn't ratified until later that year on December 6th.
