While running home from school Annmarie her little sister Kristi and her friend Ellen were stopped by Nazi soldiers. Feb 1, 1941 Annemarie and her family are visited by her cousin Peter and brings them items they need. Mar 1, 1941 Nazis start taking away all the Jews in the city. Jun 1, 1941 Cousin Peter helps the Rsoens escape but Ellen stays behind with the Johansens Aug 18, 1941 The Johansens are confronted but Nazi soldiers looking for the Rosens Oct 19, 1941 Ellen Rosen pretends to be Lise Johansen. Dec 20, 1941 The Johansens leave Copenhagen for Uncle Henrick's farm. Jan 21, 1942 The family settles in at the farm. Mar 22, 1942 Annmarie's "Aunt Birtie" passes away but Annemaries doesn't remember her. May 23, 1942 Nazi come to the funeral and refuse to look in the casket but hit Mrs. Johansen in the face. Jul 24, 1942 There was so Aunt Birtie, the casket was filled with warm clothing the family hands out. Aug 25, 1942 The Rosens take Ellen home with them, a package from Peter falls out of Mr. Rosen's pocket. Sep 27, 1942 The package was a powder to confuse the Nazi's hounds. Nov 26, 1942 Annemarie finds the package and delivers it to the Rosens on Uncle Henrick's boat Jun 28, 1943 The Rosens are safely headed for Denmark Oct 1, 1943 Hitler orders Danish Jews to be arrested Dec 30, 1943 Annemarie's family returns home after the war. May 5, 1945 Germany withdraws from Denmark May 8, 1945 Germany surrenders
