    The viking age started with the attack on Lindifarne monastry in 793 AD, and ended when the English army successfully repeled viking invaders during the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066. This is significant to Norway's history because the viking age shaped present day Norway with its effective weapons, ships, agriculture, and new way of life.

    Norway unified into one kingdom
    King Harald Fairhair is credited with unifying the small kingdoms into one kingdom, which is present day Norway. The process of the unification started in about 860 and finally finished in the 1020s.

    Norway was one of the original twelve countries that founded NATO in 1949. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization(NATO), is a group of a total of twenty eight countries that basically live by the policy that if one country in NATO get attacked, all the countries in NATO get attacked. This has helped Norway because if Norway was ever to be attacked then they know that they will have back up of twenty seven other countries.

    The production of oil mining had officially started on June 15, 1971. This provided jobs and helped the Norwegian economy greaty. Since then the exportation of oil has become Norway's number one export.
