The Beginning of the New Millennium Program
The New Millennium Program is a program that NASA put into place for space exploration during the 21st Century. One of the goals is to have many different spacecraft in space working on different missions at the same time. Deep Space 1
Deep Space 1 launched on October 24, 1998. It carried out a flyby of an asteroid and an encounter with a comet. The mission was a success.

Deep Space 2
Deep Space 2 oaunched on January 3, 1999. It was supposed to probe the surface of Mars but it was considered a failure because we lost communication with it.

Earth Observing 1
Earth Observeing 1 was launched on November 21, 2000. Its mission was to test advanced-landing instruments. It was expected to function for 12 months but actually lasted over 10 years.

Space Technology 5
Space Technology 5 launched on March 22, 2006. Its mission was to test several new technologies for application in future space missions. NASA shut it down three months later after successfully completing its mission.

New Millennium Program cancelled
In 2009 (We are not given an exact day) funding for all future flights was eliminated by the 110th United States Congress.
