    The 1947 Philadelphia Warriors won the first BAA chamionship behind the play of the regular season scoring champion and Hall of Famer Joe Fulks.

    Harold Hunter became the first black player to sign an NBA contract in 1950, but he was cut by the Washington Capitals in training camp.

    The first NBA All-Star Game was held at the Boston Garden, the Boston Celtics' arena. Walter A. Brown, the Celtics owner, offered to hold the game between the best players of the Eastern and Western Conferences at the Garden. He even agreed to cover all of the expenses and possible financial losses from the game.
