  • Sister's Heroin Addiction

    Sister's Heroin Addiction
Her addiction first began when I was 14 years old and continues to this day. Watching my sister go through addiction, helping her through withdrawals, and attending NA meetings with her allowed me to see how difficult addiction is. My sister's struggle with substance abuse made me want to help those with addiction. Stage: Ego Identity versus Role Confusion
    System: Microsystem
  • Moving from New Jersey to Arizona

Moving from New Jersey to Arizona
When I graduated high school I knew I wanted to leave New Jersey. I came from a small town with no options and I already lost several loved ones and friends to drug addiction. When I moved to Arizona I got to meet a wide range of people, develop my independence of living on my own and start my journey into college. Stage: Ego Identity versus Role Confusion
    System: Mesosystem
  • Treatment of my Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Treatment of my Generalized Anxiety Disorder
After suffering from moderate to severe generalized anxiety since elementary school, I finally accepted taking a SSRI. I did not know what it felt like to live without fear. After taking a SSRI my grades improved, I began to enjoy life, built stronger friendships, and understood that mental health issues can be stabilized. Stage: Intimacy versus Isolation
    System: microsystem, mesosystem, and macrosystem
  • Working at a Homeless Shelter

    Working at a Homeless Shelter
I get to work with clients from a wide range of backgrounds. I got to help some obtain jobs and housing, work through addiction, and pursue higher education. Other clients might not be as successful, but they are just as important. Working here gave me even more of a passion to work in the mental health/social work field. Despite how difficult it is to see clients in pain, fail, and some pass away I still want to be there with them. Stage: Intimacy versus Isolation
    System: Mesosystem
