In 1975 Nancy Leiberman was given one of the twelve coveted spots in the USA Women's National Basketball Team, and that catapulted her into the national spotlight.

A year later Nancy brought home a silver medal from the World Championship that took place in South America, and she brought home a gold medal from the Pan American Games that took place in Mexico. At the age of 18 years old she had acheived a silver medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montrial and to become the youngest player in olympic history.

Nancy attended Old Domionion University on a full scholarship, where she led the Lady Monarchs to there two consecutive National Championships and won a WNIT Championship. Lieberman became the first ever, two time winner of the Wade Trophy. The Wade Trophy made her the player of the year in womens colledge basketball. Nancy was selected as the Broderick award winner for basketball as the top women's basketball player in America. She had also received three consecutive Kodac All-American honors.

Lieberman was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, including being inducted into the Virginia Sport's Hall of Fame, Hampton Roads Hall of Fame, and to be the first women to be inducted into the New York City Hall of Fame.

Lieberman returned to play one game with the Detroit Shok. She had beat her record in the WNBA, she was 50 when this event took place.

Lieberman then went too coach in the NBA, she coached the Dallas Mavericks and led the to the playoffs.
