Throught her college years of study, Haraway dabbled in zoology with a minor of philosophy. She also studied evolutionary philosophy and theology. Her PHD was from Yale in biology.

Haraway published an essay named "A Cyborg Manifesto: Science, Technology, and Socialist-Feminism in the Late Twentieth Century" in 1985. This essay talked about being above sexist bits of technology and opressive patriarchal structures and traditions in science.
