I was born at a young age, and I lived in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota for my early years.

My parents were divorced during my middle school years. While it was strange, I was still able to continue to see both of them because I took turns at both houses. It was hard to see my parents get remarried. It was a finality that meant things would never be the same.

One summer I volunteered at a camp in northern Minnesota. I washed dishes for a month, and then took a ride through the dishwasher as part of a Castaway tradition.

Our team placed 4th in the 1991 Minnesota state high school basketball tournament. Basketball was important in my life. I was the co-captain of our team.

Some of the best years of my life were spent at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. This is a picture of me as a member of The Taylor Sounds, a travelling chorale.

I studied for five months in Kenya through an exchange program between Taylor University and Daystar University.

I was excited yet nervous after being hired to teach middle school students at Boca Raton Christian School. It is easy to remember my starting salary - $24,700. It felt like I was thinking about the job 'round the clock!

What joy to return from delivering pizzas for Papa John's to hear, "Your wife is in labor at the hospital." Yes, I made it in time for Grace's birth and even fainted afterwards!

Working closely with our school's character committee, I facilitated a pledge drive. Students signed a banner and committed to "put honor above all by refusing to cheat."

I wrote a grant for $1000 worth of tennis equipment. My tennis team delivered the rackets, balls, and nets, and provided some basic tennis instruction.

I began graduate studies at Bethel University to help reach my goal of becoming a principal.

Gloria fought a courageous fight with cancer but succumbed to it and met Jesus midday on our 20th anniversary.
