Timeline: My Exposure to Traditional and New Media

2010

Computers

I was exposed to computers because of entertainment purposes only. I just played games and never really used it for information gathering.

2012

Telephone

I was exposed to a telephone when I was in grade 4, it was one of the means for my classmates and myself to communicate. Also for my sister and I to be able to communicate with our father who is working abroad.

Radio

I was exposed to the radio because it is one of the things used to hear the news and it is also used to play some music.

Newspapers

I am exposed to newspapers back then because some activities in school can only be done by using a newspaper. Also, newspapers have some of the breaking news that is aired on TV, in newspapers, you can just find the news that suits you.

Television

Televisions are the most common medium for entertainment for us back then, also we watch news and updates on the TV.

Cinema

I was exposed to cinemas starting this year, we watch movies in cinemas like five times a year.

Yahoo! Messenger

I was exposed to Yahoo! Messenger because of my father who is working abroad and our relatives who are living abroad. This was our only means of communication.

Facebook

I was exposed to Facebook only because of peer pressure and we didn't really need it that much in school. I only used it for entertainment purposes and for social interactions with my classmates and friends.

Smart Phones

I was exposed to Smart Phones because of entertainment and social interaction purposes. Also, it was because of peer pressure.

Facebook Messenger

I was exposed to Facebook Messenger because we need it for us to be updated on things that are happening in our school and also for us to be connected to our teachers.

Skype

I was exposed to Skype when I was in Grade 6. My friends and I back then, wanted to talk to each other without meeting in person. So we decided to get this app. Also for us to collaborate on tasks during the weekends.

Twitter

I was exposed to Twitter only because I wanted to follow the updates of some celebrities and online gaming streamers.

Gmail

I was exposed to Gmail when I was in grade 9 since we need to submit our assignments online and use email for accessing certain files that our teachers want us to access using our personal emails.
