    Robert Maynard Hutchins publishes the afore-mentioned book, which illustrates his theories on the philosophy of educational perrenialism, stating that an education should be grounded in the "Great Books" and a focus on principles before facts.

    Publication of Tyler's Principles of Curriculum and Instruction
    Ralph W. Tyler published his landmark book on curriculum design this year, presenting the afore-mentioned principles which I reference when designing units of instruction and yearly curriculum as a whole.

    The most widely used digital education platform debuts this year. The incorporation of these platforms, as well as other forms of supplemental technology form a major facet of my teaching philosophy.

    State of Arizona replaces Common Core with Revised State Standards
    With a 6-2 vote, the AZ Board of Education chose to replace the federal Common Core with revised state standards. Citing the fact that the standards were put into place without input from the public by federal mandate, the Board of Education elected to change and revise the standards to better reflect the needs of Arizona students and teachers.

    Continuing Teachers Shortage in Arizona

    Since the 2015-16 school year, the state of Arizona has suffered from a shortage of certified teachers, resulting in some 2000+ uncertified individuals being placed in the classroom. While the proposed 20% increase to teachers' salary will ameliorate this crisis, the fundamental causes for high teacher turn-over, including teachers leaving the profession, must be addressed.
