Getting Together
After the events of 9/11, MCR frontman Gerard Way decided that he was going to quit his job and get a band together consisting of himself, his little brother Mikey Way (Bass), and Ray Toro (Lead Guitar), Matt Pelissier (Drums), and Frank Iero (Rhythm Guitar), who joined the band later. -
Eyeball Records
Rhythm guitarist Frank Iero's band, Pencey Prep, was already signed to Eyeball records when My Chem was looking for a record deal, so he introduced Geoff Rickley (The owner of the label) to the rest of the band at a party. They were signed a few weeks later. -
I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love
After they released two singles off the album in late 2001, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, came out July 23rd, 2002 -
New Record Label
After the success of Bullets, My Chem was offered to sign to Reprise Records and accepted. -
Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge
My Chemical Romances' second album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, was released under Reprise in 2004 and gained platinum status in a little over a year. -
New Drummer
The band's drummer Matt Pelissier was replaced with Bob Bryar after being caught stealing musical equipment from the band -
The Black Parade
With a new drummer and new ideas, My Chem released the concept album The Black Parade, Their highest-grossing release to date. It achieved platinum status in under a year. -
The Black Parade World Tour
The band's first world tour started in February 2007, with Rise Against, Thursday, and Muse as supporting acts. The tour started in early 2007 and ended a few months later. -
Projekt Revolution
Projekt Revolution (usually shortened to Prorev) was a tour comprised of MCR, Mindless Self Indulgence, Placebo, HIM, Taking Back Sunday, and Saosin that My Chem headlined with MSI in 2007 -
The Black Parade is Dead!
The Black Parade is Dead! is a live recording of MCR's last performance of the TBP tour in Mexico City, Mexico and was recorded in October 2007 but released almost a year later -
Desolation Row
in 2009, the band covered Desolation Row by Bob Dylan for the movie Watchmen as the ending track. The music video MCR released alongside it is one of their most-watched videos. -
The B sides
An EP titled The Black Parade: The B-sides was released containing never before heard songs and demos off the original album. -
Bob Bryar Leaves
After some drama with bassist Mikey Way, Bryar leaves the band and is replaced with multiple touring drummers. This was announced on the official website on March 3rd, 2010 by Frank Iero -
Art is The Weapon
MCR came out with its first content in two years, a trailer called Art is The Weapon, that explained the storyline to their upcoming concept album, Danger Days: The True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys, a story taking place in post-apocalyptic California in the far off year of 2019. -
Danger Days: The True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys
After months of releasing cryptic youtube videos and running Twitter accounts for the story's characters, Danger Days was released in November of 2010, marking the fourth official studio release by My Chem. -
Honda Civic Tour
To kick off the band's world tour following their latest album, MCR led a short tour before, headlining with Blink-182 -
Conventional Weapons
After finishing their World Contamination Tour, My Chem admitted to an album that was supposed to come out in 2009 had been scrapped for the concept of Danger Days. It was called Conventional Weapons and was released in a series of two-song EPs from October 2012 to early 2013 -
Breakup
Despite talking about working on a new album, MCR5, the band announced their breakup officially on their website in March 2013, saying later that "The band had lost its drive, and we couldn't make the album and make everyone happy about how the finished product would be." -
May Death Never Stop You
In 2014, MCR released multiple never before seen tracks along with their greatest hits album, May Death Never Stop You. -
MCRX
On the ten year anniversary of the single Welcome To The Black Parade being released, My Chem put out an album titled The Black Parade/Living With Ghosts, that featured demos and alternate versions of songs off the original album. -
Reunion
On Halloween 2019, MCR announced an official My Chemical Romance reunion on their official Instagram and announced a return show at the shrine in Los Angeles. -
Shrine Show
MCR played their first show together since 2013 at the Shrine in LA on December 20 -
Tour Postponed
MCR announced a world return tour in January of 2020, but in July it was postponed to 2021-2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic
