Lisbon earthquake (Portugal)
This started with a 8.5-9.0 magnitude earthquake. It then created disturbance in the ocean causing a massive tsunami. This Tsunami almost totally destroyed Libyan and adjoining areas.it is said this tsunamis killed anywhere from 10000 to 100000 people. One of the areas it also effected was southern great Britain. -
Krakota Eruption (java/Sumatra)
The top of Krakota volcano collapsed into the ocean floor. This caused a disturbance in the sea causing a tsunami to form. The tsunamis that was formed was more then 35 meters high. It ended up killing more then 36,000 people. This destroyed over 70 percent of the small island. -
Aleutian Earthquake (alaska)
This started with a earthquake reaching magnitude 8.1. This in turn caused a massive tsunami to form. This tsunamie killed around 160 people. This caused over 26 million dollars in damage. Five of the deaths caused by this were light house keepers. -
Great Chilian earthquake (chile)
This started with a magnitude 9.5 earthquake. This in turn created a tsunamie. This killed 61 people mainly from 25 meter waves. The earthquake causing the tsunamis lasted a whole 10 minutes. It coasted 6.2 billion dollars to repair the damage. -
Good Friday Earthquake (alaska)
There was a magnitude 9.2 earthquake. A tsunamie was then formed that crashed the shore of Alaska and California. This tsunami killed around 130 people. This was most powerful earthquake recorded in us history. It raised certain places by 30 feet permanently. -
Hokkaido Earthquake (japan)
This was a magnitude 7.8 earthquake. This caused tsunamie that killed 120 people. This basically wiped out okashire island. The tsunamis hit around 2 -7 minutes after earthquake. This reached a total of 35 meters high. -
Papua New Guina Earthquake
It started with a magnitude 7.0 earthquake. Due to the earthquake it caused a massive landslide into the ocean. This landslide caused a tsunamie to form which killed more then 2100 people. The landslide occurred 32 kilometers below sea level. This managed to raise awareness that landslides can chase tsunamis also. -
Sumatra Earthquake
Started with magnitude 9.1 earthquake which in turn triggered a huge tsunamie. This killed more then 230,000 people.this also caused 19.9 billion dollars in damage.the Indonesian city of Bandah Aceh was reported with the most victims. This tsunamie effected a total of 14 countries. -
Samoa Earthquake (Indonesia)
Starting with a magnitude 8.1 earthquake which occurred in kermadic Tonga subduction zone. This triggered a tsunami 14 meters high. This occurred in part of what is known as the Pacific ring of fire 12 kilometers deep. The confirmed death toll was 200 people. The water system in Satala was severely damaged in the tsunamie. -
Chili Earthquake
With a magnitude 8.8 earthquake occurring of the the coast of central chili.the intense shaking lasted a total of 3 minutes. This in turn generated a tsunamie which devastated multiple coastal towns. This damaged the fishing business a total of 6.6 billion dollars.over 9 percent of the population in the region lost there homes.this disaster ended up killing more then 700 people.
