The estimated death count is 80,000= - 150,000 including men women and children. This event is considered the cruelest thing that Mithridates VI did.

    The end of the Mithridatic wars - 81 BC
    After several battles Lucuis Cornelius Sulla was finally able to force Mithridates VI out of greece. After this peace was discussed and declared between Rome and Mithridates VI. However this peace was short lived becuase Rome soon after attack Mithridates which led to the started of the second Mithridatic war. The second Mithriatic war lasted from 83-81 BC and ended with the defeat of Mithridates VI.

    It is said that Mithridates VI tried to commit suicide by poisioing himself. It failed because during his seven year period in the wilderness he made himself immune to the poison he attempted to kill himself with. To this day he is still known as "The Poison King". Because of this he had to order one of his loyal bodyguard named Bituitus to kill him with a sword. Mithridates VI is considered the greatest ruler of Pontus to ever live.

    When Mithridates IV first became his main goal was to dominate the Black Sea and Anatolia. It took him several attempts but he eventually conquered Syria. He then turned his attention to Anatolia. He was close to conquering Anatolia as well but Nicomedes asked the Roman empire for assitance in stopping Mithridates. The Romans twice interfered which later on led to the Roman-Pontic war.

    Mithridates V was a prince and the 7th King of Pontus, He was also the father of Mithridates IV. In the year 120 BC Mithridates was assassinated. The assassination was most likely a political assassination but not much information is known about it. Just likely every other boy would be Mithridates IV was shaken up by his fathers assassination.

During his time in the wilderness he developed a "Universal antidote to poisons" by injecting himself with less than lethal amounts of different poisons consistently so he became immune to them.
