Missouri wants to become slave state in the south.Main in the north is a free slave state.Since the north does not have any slaves they have more land to use. In the south The land is very limited because of the slaves.Henry Clay led the forces of the great compromise. -

Dred Scott Case of 1852
Scott is a slave who lived with his owner in a free state before returning to Missouri. Dred was going to sue his owner.He had went to court and had argued that time spent in a free state.The court decided that no free black slave could claim the U.S. citizenship, and go to court for their freedom. -

Marriet Beecher stove wrote a book about what she saw in the south when she was there the north was horrified by what they heard but the south thought they were misrepresented. This impacted the northś view on the south and made the north more angry about slavery. It became a bestseller back at that time. -

They had the seven debates between Stephen A.Douglas and Abraham Lincoln during the 1858 Illinois state election campaign.The North side was against slavery and was lifted.There were issues and it goes out of control.The South side took notice into Lincoln's speech the North could care less.South side believed him more than the North side.The North believed Douglas more than him. -

John Brown leads a small group of raid against a federal army in Harpers Ferry.Virginia is an attempt to start an armed slave and to destroy the institution of slavery.John Brown and his followers attacked the Harpers Ferry. Their goal was to capture supplies and use them to arm a slave. -

This event was to select the president and the vice president.Lincoln was elected the 16th president of the United States over a divided democratic party. -
