    Compromise of 1850
    This agreement made California a free state, mexican territories would decide based on population, and Missouri would stay as a slave state. Also, the fugitive slave act was used and it states that slaves that have escaped, the government will returrn them to their master.

    Dred Scott decision
    Dred Scott and his master moved from Missouri to the free state of Wisconsin. In 1846, he moved back to Missouri and in court, he was sentenced as a slave.

    He an 21 volunteers including 5 black men, siezed an arsnel at Harpers Ferry, Virginia. Brown was captured, tried, and executed.

    The big point was between slavery or freedom. The leader was democrat Stephen Douglas of Illinois. He failed to reach support from the south while Lincoln was able to reach out to them. Abraham Lincoln was voted in in 1860. He was able to get voters from the North and the South.

    He was the final casualty of this war. President Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth at Fords Theatre. The North went into shock. His death was a calamity in the South. Andrew Johnson would take over.

    This amendment abolished slavery. Many former slaves moved North to start a new life. Racism was still occuring from place to place because the blacks were taking the jobs from white people but they couldnt do anything to them for it.

    This act allowed military districs to be set up in the South. They also needed to have a military leader from the North. This was called Marshal law.

    This amendment allowed black people the right to vote. This also allowed full citizenship to blacks. This Amrndment was an important role on the parties because it had to include benefits for both whites and blacks.

    It was a 1907 mile railroad that connected San Fransisco and the Eastern sea board. It changed land captured by the Indians into civilized land. This also worked in with the idea of Manifest Destiny.

    This occured in Europe and North America in 1873 until 1879. This caused people to take their money out of the banks to supply for their family. The unemployment rate raised from 15% to 25%, as did debt. The amount of sales was decreasing as well.

    This is known as Custers last stand. He and the 7th cavalry moved into occupied land and tried to take on the Indians and were badly outnumbered. They lost the battle and it was a big success for the Indians.

    It depended on support from the North. Without financial and millitary support, this era could not continue. Throughout the 1870's, the nation would abandon Reconstruction.

    He surrendered after losing 150 of his men at battle and sustaining injuries of his own. He surrendered to the U.S military and gave up his guns.
