  • Navigation Act

    Navigation Act
    This act was meant to direct trade between the Colonies and Britain. The colonists were angery because they couldn't make as much profit for their goods, it also increased smuggling.
  • Proclomation of 1763

    Proclomation of 1763
    This act was made to set a boundary of westward movement for the colonists, and to keep peace with the Indians. This angered the colonists who had already bought lant west, the speculators. The colonists were also angered that Britain ignored the colonist's claims.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    This act actually lowered the tax on importing molasses, thinking that the colonists would actually pay it if it was lowered. The colonist believed that the british were violating their rights, and smuggling continued.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This act placed a tax on almost all printed items. The colonists thought Britain was interfering with their colonial affairs and it taxed without consent.
  • The Declaratory Act

    The Declaratory Act
    Gave Parliment the power to tax and make decisions in the colonies "in all cases". This gave Parliment even more power over the colonies.
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    This taxed most imported goods like glass, tea, paper with the tax being paid at the port of entry. This angered the colonists even more, pushed the women colonists to create the Daughters of Liberty.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    Allowed Great Britain sole control over the trading of tea in the colonies. Colonists boycotted tea, and caused the Boston Tea Party,
  • Coercive Acts

    Coercive Acts
    Intended to punish the people of Massachusetts for their resistance of British law, it closed the Boston Harbor. Colonists said that it violated their rights as English citizens.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act
    Gave Quebec land west of the Appalacian Mountains and North of the Ohio River. Britain ignoered colonial claims to the area, colonists expressed anger by calling the last two acts the Intolerable Ats.
