    1685- 1815
    The period in Europe in which Enlightenment thinkers used data and knowledge instead of religious refference to draw conclusions about the world. Some of the philosophers were Hobbes, Locke and Montesquieu, they propsed ideas about government and people that changed society.

    1760-1840
    The time of transition when machines were now used to produce goods. Industrialization took place in Europe and spread around the world. The factory owners were known to pay the very least they could and the workers were in very poor condtions.

    A congress in France made by the people of the third estate to create laws and reform.

    When the people of Haiti broke out from under the influence of the French Colonists. They were being force to work under unfair conditions which led to their revolts and to a new Haiti.

    The time when Maximilien Robespierre ruled France in the fahion of a dictator. It is reffered to as the Reign of Terror because thousands of citizens were killed.

    On the plantations in Haiti slaves revolted against the French for unfair treatment. The fight about this resulted in a revolution.

    Portugal did not agree with Napoloen's policy of isolation Britain so Napoleon moved his troopes through Spain to attack Portugal. However they ended up getting demolished by Spain.

    The Congress of Vienna took place in Europe. It was the first time that the countries got together to solve a problem. The Congress agreed to give back the land Napoleon took away, returning the monarchs to power in France that lost when Napoleon came and constructed an allience system to weaken France balence power.

    The war between Britain and China in which they fought over Britain illegally transporting Opium into China. Britian came out as the victor leading to the Treaty of Ninjing.

    The signing of the Treaty of Nanjing marked the end to the Opium War. It was an agreement between Britain and China that lead to forcing China into trade and gave Britain Hong Kong.

    The signing of the Treaty of Kanadawa was an agreement between the United States and Japan that forced Japan to open 2 US trading ports and and a US embassy in Japan.

    Matthew Perry went to Japan and the Treaty of Kanagawa was created. This treaty lead to the open door policty which forced Japan to trade.
