    The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the results of the rising tension between the British and Colonists, they were the first battles of the Revolutionary War. The British ended up retreating back to Boston, as one can imagine this was a huge victory for the colonists.

    Meeting of the Second Continental Congress
    The Meeting of the Second Continental Congress was formed when the British did nothing about the grievances of the First Continental Congress. The goal was to organize a Continental Army to fight the British and to prepare for war.

    This battle gave the American soldiers hope that they may have a chance in defeating the powerhouse that was the British army. Though the British won the battle the Americans gained more experience and training. The British came out with over 250 soldiers killed while the Americans lost less than half of that.

    Ending on October 17, 1777, the Battle of Saratoga the British surrender which made for a turning point in the war. This battle was thought to be "the most crucial and decisive during the American Revolutionary War." It also urged the French to give their support.

    Ending on September 21, 1777, the Paoli Massacre was a British victory. It is known as a "small, vicious battle".

    This lasted until June 19, 1778. This was George Washington's six month long encampment at Valley Forge. Washington's men faced illnesses, hunger, diseases and exposure to the harsh weather.
