    He plants and does yard work for his neighbors. In the fall and winter he attends school and reads lots of books. He learns a lot from reading.
  • Lincoln's years in New Salem

    Abraham Lincoln moves out of his house and leaves his family and starts to work. Rutledge and Camron Mill put him in charge of the mill and he also works in the store. Many people grow to love him and enjoy many of his stories. Lincoln's years in New Salem contributed to his development of becoming a lawyer and political realist.

    He worked in Springfield as a lawyer and earned the reputation of "Honest Abe." There he served many people.

    Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd get married. Together they had 4 children.

    He served in the representative for 2 years. Some people didn't like his speeches so he decided to serve one term and then he moved back home.
  • Lincoln joins the Republican Party

    In 1854 the Kansas-Nebraska Act happened. It allowed all states to choose whether they wanted to allow slavery or not. This act made Lincoln want to become apart of the Republican Party.

    Abraham Lincoln served as President for one term. He was the 16th President of the United States. He was loved my many people. While President he accomplished many things.

    This proclamation states that those who were held as slaves should be sent free. Meaning all men are created equal.
