    March 11 1892 the first game of basket ball was played by the students and workers of School of Christian Workers. Though the first game consisted of 18 players, nine on a team. At the end of a 30 minute game the final score stood 1-0. the goal was made by William R.Chase the first person to score a basket in basketball.

    1. The first known professional game was played in Trenton, New Jersey, between the Trenton YMCA agaisnt the Broolyn YMCA. Trenton beat Broolyn 15-1.

    The NBA agrees to create the WNBA for womens basketball. Currently the WNBA consists of 12 teams, most of them share an arena with the male counterpart NBA team. The league was officialy created April 24, 1996

    The Houston Rockets decide to select Yao Ming of China as their first pick in the draft. Yao becomes the first player to be drafted in the NBA who is not from the USA.
