At the time, the best basketball players in the world were signed with Adidas and Converse, Nike was creating their first running sneaker, and Vans was making sneakers tailored specifically for skaters. We also still wear some of these shoes today such as nike cortez and converse. -
Nike and Jordan had pretty much taken over the game as the most popular shoes at the time. Michael Jordan had become a superstar and everybody wanted to be like Mike with his signature sneakers. Also reebok was popular at this time with many NBA players but Michael Jordan ruled the public with his shoes. -
There was very little change from the 90s-00s but many other brands became popular at the time. As Jordan's faded from the spotlight others like Nike and Adidas really made a push forward. Many of the shoes we wear today were released around this time like Air force ones, Air maxes and Vapor max. -
There was a new generation around and Michael Jordan was old. New superstars like Lebron James and Kobe Bryant released shoes and around this time the sneaker game was heavily influenced by NBA players. Both of these two stars rocked the Nike brand and this is when Nike really started to put a staple in the shoe game establishing themselves as one of the best brands at this time. -
Today sneakers are more popular than ever. People nowadays can actually make a living off buying and reselling sneakers on markets for big profits. Although many of the brands that were popular back then still are popular, they have made many new enhancements to the shoes that make them feel and look better. Nike, Jordan, Adidas, and Under Armor are some of the biggest shoe brands right now.
