Exposition
Cassia is going to her Match Banquet and special dinner where she will find her 'Match'. Every 17 year old that societ has to go to the banquet. They will find out who there match is and will be forced to marry and have children with there match. -
Conflict
Cassia is home alone and looking at the microcard where all the information about her match "Xander" (her best friend) is. After seeing Xander's picture on the screen it suddenly goes blank then changes to a different picture. The other picture is Ky Markham, an 'Aberration'. -
Rising Action
Cassia talks to her Grandfather before he passes away and he tells her to live life how she wants to. To sometimes take risks and go against the society. He teaches her a lot about the truth. -
Rising Action
Ky begins school in the same society as Cassia. After a while Cassia notices that Ky is a quiet person who seems like he doesn't want to get to know new people. Cassia wants to become his friend and get to know him but she feels like it is the wrong thing to do. -
Turning Point
Ky and Cassia get to know a lot about eachother in the hiking activities they have. She really wants to know why he became an abberation. They start talking on the top of a hill alone and Cassia starts to have feelings for Ky, but is afraid of those feelings. She is not supposed to like Ky because she is already matched with her best friend Xander and Ky was from the Outer Provinces. But they start talking more and more and they suddenly kiss, and she does not know what to do. -
Falling Action
Ky is taken away by many officials and is put to work because there is a war that the society is losing. The officials tell Cassia to take the red pill (to lose memory of the last 12 hours). Cassia does not take the pill and knows everything. -
Falling Action
Cassia decides to tell Xander the truth of how she feels about Ky. She also decides that she is going to go look for him no matter what the rules are. Later, the officials tell Cassia and her family that they have been moved to the Farmlands. -
Falling Action
Xander offers to help Cassia in trying to find Ky. He gives her some things she might need for it. Xander still loves her and tells her to keep him as a option. -
Falling Action
Cassia's family was told to take the red pill and doesn't remember what happened to Ky or his family. Cassoa's family know that she loves Ky and want to help her. -
Resolution
Cassia's parents told her to go to work camp which is close to the Outer Provinces. She has to wait to hear what the society has to say. She hopes it's good because she wants to go and find Ky.
