    Jamestown was the first permanent English settlement in North America. John Smith played a key roll in the establishment of Jamestown, their hard start off thrived on exporting tobacco.

    African Tribes in Africa sell young men from rival tribes in the triangular trade between the americas and england. The dutch were the first to introduce a boat full of slaves for sale to the colony of Jamestown for labor on plantations.

    House of Burgesses
    The first legislative group of elected representatives in North America, founded in Virginia, Jamestown. It was created as part of an effort to encourage Englishmen to settle in North America.
  • Mayflower Compact

    Mayflower Compact
    When the puritans first settled in the Americas, they wrote laws that would obide to their colony and their people, this written group of laws is called the Mayflower compact. It was written on the foundation of persecution from England.

    1754-1763. English versus French for territory west of Appalachians and in Canada. England and the American colonists won against the French and Native Americans.

    England gained the land fought over for in the French and Indian War. This treaty was held in Paris, France, and the French surrendered and left the land but kept troops placed nearby in forts.

    England prohibited colonists from settling west of the Appalachians. It cost a lot to protect the colonists from Indian attacks. This angered the colonists becasue they aided in the war but was left without a reward.

    Taxes placed on American Colonists by Britain to pay for the Wat. Placed tax on legal documentation, making every bit of work cost an extra few coins. this angered the colonists.

    Colonists and British soldiers in Boston competed over jobs. Mob of anti-british throws rocks at soldiers and they fire on unarmed crowd, killind 5 colonists. Arouse anger.

    Colonists boycott tea and board British shipping boats. They dressed as the Natives and dumped the tea off into the harbor.

    1st skirmish of the war, involved minuteman for the defense of the colonists, versus the British tropps in Massachusetts. British troops attacked stockpiles of weapons the colonists were stocking

    Gathering of all 13 states due to the acts of war arousing in the colonies. Created the continental army to defend the colonists

    Written by Thomas Jefferson. Stated grievances against Britain reguarding the citizens of the colonies of America. Demanded equal rights

    Time that the United States was under a confederacy. The federal government was weak, which made the country of America weak. This small grouping of states was hurtful to the economy of the over all power of the U.S.

    Documentation fo the establishment of a confederacy for the United States of America. Uniting the States under one large federal government, the states having more power than the over all country.

    After battling British soildersin Virginia, Britain backed down as France and American soilders pushed them southwest. This established America as their own country, and independence from Britain from a brutal war.

    Adopted but the continental congress. Congress did not have the power to tax the states to raise revenue. This issued the fact that the U.S. would remain a lesser power until they actually united to grow their economy.

    An armed uprising in Massachusetts. Because of the economy farmers that had not have enough economically benefical aids as the others did, they charged the courts with treason by commiting treason.

    A national political convention. 12 delegates from 5 states show to discuss the terms of the articles of confederation, and how to temper with it to sustain state power but grow the economy.

    Third president of the United states, the soul writer of the delaration of independence. He was an american founding father and looked up too as one fo the many presidents that contributed to the current state of the country as a power.

    The aqusition of A large mass of land in North America making up part of the middle, bought by Thomas Jefferson for 15 million dollars. This doubled the size of America at the time, making its power and econmy grow for dirt cheap.

    A court case set up by John Marshall. This case declared a certain law unconstitutional, establishing the power of judical review.
  • McCulloch vs Maryland

    McCulloch vs Maryland
    Court case proposed by John Marshall upheolding the federal government's right to establish a bank. Said that a state could not tax the bank due to national supremecy.
