    The U.S was sick of british rule and how their taxes were so high. The economy of great britain was sturggling and they were going broke and couldnt afford to keep the U.S and they gave them their independence and gained a fellow country to trade with.

    They had different religious groups Serbs (Eastern Orthodox), Croats (Roman Katholic), Slavs (Muslim) and to make it worse their economy was also failing after years of ethnic violence.

    The Catalans want to preserve their culture and believe that this is the best way to accomplish that and they had gained autonomy in the past but it was abolished during the Spanish civil war, so they had to gain it back.

    Split into: Czech hrepubic, and Slovakia
    It was a political decision to split, because Slovakia was described as the smaller and economically neglected part of Czechoslovakia. They also had high unemployment rates and 2 different cultures.

    The Soviet Union had many economic problems and a failing political structure and ontop of that many people had religous differences.
